WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE AND DRY NEEDLING?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that involves stimulating certain body points with a needle penetrating the skin. Dry Needling is a technique used to get the muscle and nerve junction to release the muscle and is similar in that a needle is inserted into the skin to reduce pain.
The difference between acupuncture and dry needling is that acupuncture treats to alter the flow of energy along traditional Chinese meridians, while dry needling follows evidence-based guidelines, recommended point of location and dosages for the treatment of a specific condition.
Acupuncture and dry needling is a very effective treatment method whether it is in conjunction with other treatments and rehabiliation of injuries or used as a way of helping you relax and improve your sleep.
At SDH PhysioWorks Steve is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and effectively uses acupuncture and dry needling as a treatment method on a daily basis with his role at Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club.
